The project centred around designing an expansion and transformation of an office building into a hotel. The building, which was built in 1973, was designed by Guðmundur Kr Kristinsson and Ferdinand Alfreðsson for the headquarters of Olíufélag Íslands (ESSO Iceland).

The concept of the new hotel was inspired by its location on the edge of Laugardalur (Valley of the baths) which is a major and much loved recreational and sports facility park, located in the heart of Reykjavík. The Laugardalur Park is strongly connected to the city’s rich history and today it’s the image of a healthy lifestyle and family-friendly, outdoor activities.

Festir sold the building at the end of 2020.
