Vogabyggð will be a vibrant and friendly neighbourhood with a strong identity. It is situated in a beautiful setting on elevated banks of the estuaries of a major river in Reykjavík called Elliðaá (Elliða river). The concept is centred around green streetscape, public spaces and buildings addressing the human scale and creating a sense of place. A variety of housing options contributes to the diversity of both the environment and community. A central square is the heart of the neighbourhood and a gathering place for its residents.

Vogabyggð will be an ecological neighbourhood, integrated into the environment with good connections to adjacent natural areas and communities, public transport and other traffic infrastructures. The connection to the waterfront is established with continuous cycling- and pedestrian paths along the banks.

Close cooperation with Reykjavík's planning authorities, other land owners, focus groups and prospective residents delivered high-quality work from the planners and architects and will, without a doubt, be reflected in the fully built neighborhood.

Over 300 apartments will be built in five buildings on the FESTIR plot. FESTIR sold the plot at the end of the planning stage to a developer and today the neighborhood is in construction.
